Joanne has conducted investigations in public, private and non-profit settings on various matters, including bullying, harassment, violence, discrimination, sexual misconduct, conflicts of interest and other policy/code of conduct breaches. Her knowledge of occupational health and safety and human rights legislation allows her to carefully assess legal risks and interpret and apply the latest case law.

Joanne has experience with investigations in both unionized and non-unionized environments and complex and sensitive matters such as concurrent criminal proceedings, litigation-adjacent complaints, multi-party complaints, anonymous complaints and complaints involving elected officials and senior leadership. Depending on the client’s preference, Joanne can conduct investigations either virtually or in person.

Informed by her legal background and extensive training, Joanne’s approach to investigations is thorough, efficient, discrete and trauma-informed. Her kind, approachable nature quickly builds trust and rapport and puts parties and witnesses at ease. Joanne finds it very fulfilling to provide organizations with clarity and certainty so they can move forward from difficult circumstances, repair relationships and restore workplace culture.
